What We Wear FW18 | LFWM

You wouldn't be able to tell by his nonchalant stride that fashion mogul Tinie Tempah had just shown his third collection under his brand, What We Wear, at London Fashion Week Men's FW18.

His stoic facial expression conveyed no sense of the pride at which he should feel at the success of a once, only rapper, turned fashion icon. Though, undeniable happiness and smile finally broke when the rapture of applause buzzed around the runway.

With a mix of sports luxe and street style, Tempah truly presented 'What We Wear' bringing the biggest trends, but combining it with his chic, relaxed design aesthetic.

It was easy to see how the brand, which channels "timeless British style" whilst still allowing for the simplicity of the everyday, modern man.

The evolution of Tempah's brand is clear, even with his strong design aesthetic. Though perhaps this was his strongest collection to date. His silhouettes and experimentation with colour seemed more comfortable and much stronger in this collection; an indication that he is more at home with his style aesthetic.

Though what peaked my interest was the play of texture and pattern that he used in his collection, particularly the checked jacket with tan, oversized pockets and a perfect match to trousers with an identical fabric used on the inside leg detail.

The clear uniformity of his collection is clear; to coincide with the 'everyday man' image Tempah was trying to portray. His use of cargo, nylon and cotton contrasted particularly well with lightweight fabrics and perfectly captured the everyday man, but with a modern edge.

Another strong favourite of mine was the eclectic, blinding orange outfit with black pocket and arm detail that seemed to be reminiscent of a, much more sophisticated, prison jumpsuit.

Tempah has truly designed a collection for all men, and this was furthered through the diversity of his models. He combined humour, and nostalgia particularly through his opening sequence video, and played on his signature style.

You truly made my first LFWM show one to remember.

xoxo
