The Big Apple NYC | Travel

New York City is the place of dreams. You go for a week and you feel like you've been there for a year, ironically it is a city that never sleeps which is probably why it feels that way. Mostly my Gossip Girl dreams came true and I never ran out of photo opportunities to recreate my favourite scenes. Not only that but all my Christmas dreams came true, though clearly the weather wasn't a reflection of that, when I saw all the places where Elf, Home Alone and Miracle on 34th Street were shot.
There's no lack of things to do in NYC, and checking the various amounts of magazines and websites means that you can find out weekly what's going on in this bustling city, as well as all the sightseeing that seems mandatory in this exquisite landscape:

Rockefeller Centre (Top of the Rock)
Going at night to Top of the Rock might be extremely busy but you see views of the city that you could never forget.
Empire State Building
Broadway in Bryant Park
In the summer, Bryant Park is running an event that showcases some of the best Broadway casts in NYC. It's completely free so if you can't afford the expensive prices of Broadway productions, this is for you.
Theatre District
I was lucky enough to see A Bronx's Tale; I'd never seen the film but I would wholeheartedly recommend this amazing production.
Statue of Liberty
The Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met)
If, like me, you're obsessed with the Met Gala each year then you should definitely visit. It's not necessary to pay because to enter is a 'suggested donation' which makes it all the better.
Grand Central Station
September 11 Memorial and Museum
Brooklyn Bridge
Times Square
Soho Shopping
The Fourth of July is best for sales and where best to go that to the best shopping district; Soho. Zara, H&M and Topshop all have amazing sales. But don't forget those shops that only Americans have the pleasure of having, especially Bath and Body Works where hand sanitizer comes in all flavours.
Flatiron Building
Central Park
Union Square
Ellen's Stardust
Again, if you love Broadway then eat here. The queues are worth it to be serenaded by musical stars wanting to make it in the Big Apple.
The Bronx
John Lennon's Memorial in Central Park
Vietnam Veterans Plaza
Horse and carriage ride in Central Park
FOOD
Yes, American portions are 10x the size of the UK but hey what is a holiday without a little indulgence. Don't worry a whole post is coming soon.
and much more...

I don't know about you, but I love sightseeing buses; it's the best way to see a city. I was also really lucky to be able to go to the US during the Fourth of July celebrations. The notorious Macy's fireworks were bigger and better this year, and you can basically see them from everywhere in the city, bearing in mind a massive building isn't in the way. I managed to see them through a street by Union Square outside of the restaurant we were eating at. Though I would warn that NYC is no cheap city.

There's nothing that beats the feeling that NYC gives you.
