the top 5 fashion moments of 2016

This year has been a whirlwind of events. The world has reeled from the loss of some of it's most loved and greatest treasures, whilst the political, economic and social climate has changed dramatically over the past 12 months. With the combination of A Levels and going to Mongolia, I can definitely say I've had a strange year. The fashion industry, alike other industries, constantly changes and this year has been no different. With the upheaval bought from this year, it's best to remember the good, as well as the bad moments, in the fashion world this year.
Runway-to-Retail
This year I did a blog post about Topshop's decision to sell their runway designs for their Unique collection. This is revolutionary and leaves those who envy the runway styles to buy them as soon as the models step off the runway. It seems that not only has Topshop taken this decision, but also major fashions brands such as Tom Ford and Burberry.

Bigger and better runway collections
Designers pushed the boundaries on their runway collections this year, making them more extraordinary than ever. Take Tommy Hilfiger's New York Fashion Week show, set on a pier, he created a spectacular carnival of light and exquisitely designed clothes. Who can forget the other controversial shows of 2016, such as Kanye's Yeezy Season 4 collection, where drama seemed to ensue, that remarkably wasn't for the Kardashian's reality show.
Fashion has no size or shape
Model Ashley Graham graced the covers of both British Vogue and Sport's Illustrated showing that fashion is not exclusionary. We should accept ourselves for who we are and our fashion should be tailored to who that person is, not what our body shape is.
The loss of the greats
The world has seen many deaths this year; all shocking and heartbreaking. Talents have been taken from this world, and even though death is a part of life, we still mourn for those who have left us.

The revival of 80s and 90s trends
This year has seen the comeback of trends from both the 1980s and 90s, with fashion that always seems to come back. From exaggerated shoulders to ruffled, well, everything and not forgetting the rise of the bomber jacket. I personally own three.

This is the last post from me in 2016, so I want to wish you all a very Happy New Year and thank you for reading my, often poor and unscheduled, writing!
