Tea, Blood and Brides

During my much needed break from sixth form, I embarked on a work placement at House of Rose Fashion House. What I love about the fashion industry is its vast and expanding nature; it's ever changing. There are so many roles in the industry that it feels so daunting to have to decide what area of fashion I want to go into, especially since I'd be going to university next September and decision making is not something that is easy for me. So to experience the varying roles I decided to do a work placement at House of Rose where they specialise in bridal alterations, bespoke wear and event dressing. I've only spent a short amount of time there, but I loved it. As you can tell by the title, there was so many different things I did. It was approaching Halloween, my favourite time of year (except Christmas), and somebody had requested to destroy a wedding dress she had bought, hence the use of tea and fake blood. Experiencing a bridal fitting was amazing; to be apart of someone's big day was so lovely because it's such an important time for them and to have someone let you into this important moment was really special.
Some advice when trying to find work experience -It's important when you have work experience to not just make teas and coffee; you're actually supposed to learn things.
