Power Dressing in Politics | Michelle Obama

I was reading an article posted by Vogue on their website about Michelle Obama. I have been a fan of her and her work in politics for a very long time. She is an incredibly inspiring and to see someone doing such brilliant work for others is amazing to see. When I think of Michelle Obama, I think that she is a kind and strong women, who has a very difficult job-it's hard being the First Lady. I've always thought that people shouldn't be focused on what women wear in politics because that should not be the sole focus of their entire career. But her clothing choices, I believe, have made a positive impact.

Michelle, as well as many other female politicians, have shown the feminine side to a very much masculine world. Traditionally, it was shown that to be in a working environment, women had to be in masculine wear to be professional. But it is shown that women can make a difference and can be in this world while retaining this feminine side to their wardrobe. In no way has her wardrobe affected whether people believe that she is unintelligent or weak. Her style is so simple, elegant and classic. It works perfectly.

Women used to believe that they needed to dress in a masculine way to be taken seriously but Michelle Obama has proven that women in politics can be seen as powerful and intelligent without sacrificing the way they dress.

Do you think that clothing has a positive effect on the way women are perceived in politics?
