If you haven't been keeping up with the latest fashion news and runway shows then you may not have known about Karl Lagerfeld presenting Fendi's Haute Couture collection in Rome earlier this week. A magnificent spectacle was shown before an audience of top fashion industry insiders, at the historically spectacular Trevi Fountain. A runway was created across the fountain and the models walked across as if gliding gracefully across the water itself. The likes of Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner sauntered the catwalk to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the fashion house.
The official show hashtag was #legendsandfairytales. An eclectic theme that ran through the entire show.
Jenner opened the show in a beautiful blue number with red, velvet like boots that will prove to be popular in the upcoming fashion season. the wispy, fairy-tale dresses were adorned with figures and beautiful flowers.
The garments had a feel for the Romanticism period with the sublimity and nature aspects coming through.
Whilst Lagerfeld also presented a much more darker side to the collection, with the use of black fur and wood brown garments with vividly coloured flowers.
Lagerfeld and Fendi pushed the barrier between sheer, often naked aesthetic with the more conservative, covered look showing the varied looks that the new season of Haute Couture brings.
What I love about this collection is that it is so incredibly detailed and is incredibly aesthetically pleasing, with vivid colours combined with dark hues of colour. Combined with an incredible backdrop makes this show even more impressive.
Footnote:
I thought me, a small town blogger from Billericay would write a review on Fendi's Haute Couture show in Rome this week as I thought it was beautiful and maybe slightly irrelevant to the popular fashion house who will usually have massive fashion industry names who usually review these shows. But who cares.
What did you think of Fendi's bold move to have their runway in the Trevi Fountain?
